The Dell Networking™ 2848 switch offers incredible value to customers by delivering Web-managed capabilities that allow users to manage the switch through an intuitive Web interface. This 48-port version is scalable from small workgroups to highly dense aggregation solutions at the branch office requiring Gigabit Ethernet. In addition, this 48-port model has combo SFP ports for connecting the switch to other networking equipment located beyond the 100m distance limitations for copper cabling. The 48-port switch also saves power by reducing power consumption up to 73 percent on copper ports with short cables, and has energy efficient capabilities that automatically decrease power on any ports that detect unused or powered down devices saving both energy and money.
The Networking 2848 LAN switch is a high-performance Gigabit Ethernet solution delivering full wire-speed switching across all ports and Web-managed features. This 48-port model also provides up to four combo SFP ports for fiber connectivity to other LAN equipment in your network.
The 2848 ships to you as an unmanaged switch for plug and play deployment, but with a push of a button, you can easily convert the switch from unmanaged to a Web-managed switch with the ability to set IP address, configure virtual LANs (VLANs), set Quality of Service (QoS) priorities, and port mirror for intrusion detection and troubleshooting.
The Networking 2848 offers up to 48 ports of Gigabit Ethernet at unmanaged prices to deliver performance and value in a highly dense 1U rack mountable chassis. The 2848 provides connectivity for up to 48 clients, servers and/or workstations for aggregation in remote office/branch office environments where space and density are important.

The Networking 2800 series is a switch family of secure, fixed-port Gigabit Ethernet switches delivering full wire-speed switching performance. These switches offer four port densities, including 8, 16 , 24, and 48 port Gigabit Ethernet ports. In addition the 2824 and 2848 have SFP slots in a combo port arrangement that deliver fiber capabilities (SFP transceivers optional). Auto MDI/MDIX and auto-negotiation of speed, duplex mode and flow help deliver exceptional control over your network traffic. The Networking 2800 series offers amazing value by delivering web-management capabilities that allow users to manage the switch through an intuitive web interface. The web-interface allows the user to easily manage the switch without the requirement to learn CLI commands or integrating the switch into an SNMP-based application, though a focused set of CLI and SNMP commands are available for environments requiring basic centralized remote management. While some vendors may refer to their web-managed switches as “smart switches”, we like to think of our switches as “power switches” powerful performance coupled with powerful management capabilities. Each switch is delivered in standard, unmanaged mode. Convert the switch to web-managed mode with the push-of-a-button on the front panel, and then easily configure Quality of Service (QoS), port-based virtual LANs (VLANs) and remote switch monitoring. The firmware allows you to upgrade the switch software as needed. The Networking 2800 family also features technology to help reduce power consumption per port by up to 96% on unused ports.
Easy web access to the managed features provides a secure environment by offering password restricted access. These switches also offer enhanced security by allowing the user to specify which IP addresses have access to the switch. Up to 64 industry-standard VLANs are supported and four priority queues help optimize network traffic using IEEE 802.1p quality-of-service. Port mirroring allows users to monitor network traffic for intrusion detection and troubleshooting. To provide additional bandwidth when connecting to other switches, the 2800 series switches support up to six link aggregation groups consisting of up to four ports per group. Advanced cable diagnostics help improve network troubleshooting while the DHCP client feature allows the switch to have an IP address assigned to it dynamically by a DHCP server, or the integrated DHCP server feature can be enabled to help manage a small LAN.
