Overview:
The Dell PowerConnect W-Series multifunction W-AP68 is a low-cost 802.11n access point (AP) designed for small, very low-density deployment areas in offices, hospitals, schools and retail stores. This compact non-MIMO AP delivers wire-like performance at data rates up to 150 Mbps. The W-AP68 features one 2.4-GHz 802.11n radio with two internal antennas.
As an 802.11n AP, the W-AP68 works with the complete portfolio of Dell’s PowerConnect W-Series centralized Mobility Controllers. 802.11n enables the use of wireless as a primary connection with speed and reliability comparable to a wired LAN. It also increases performance by utilizing techniques such as channel bonding and block acknowledgement. Advanced antenna technology also increases range and reliability.
A key to ensuring wire-like performance and reliability is Dell’s unique Adaptive Radio Management, which helps maximize client performance and ensures that APs stay clear of interference.
The multifunction W-AP68 can be configured through the Dell’s PowerConnect W-series Mobility Controllers to provide WLAN access with part-time air monitoring, dedicated air monitoring for wireless IPS, Remote AP (RAP) functionality or secure enterprise mesh. The W-AP68 feature a 10/100BASE-T Ethernet interface and can operate from standard Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) sources or a 12-volt DC power supply.
